  1. It’s been a long time (25 years) but I remember this episode as a riff on drug use. I’ve been through the online episode guides but can’t seem to pinpoint it. It involved lots of little golden candies or chocolates that the Smurfs found addicting. They also multiplied and did bad things to the village. At the end of the episode, they were finally eradicated with a magic spell or scroll.

  2. wow trying to find information on smurf episodes is hard. anyway i found an episode called “Smurfette’s Sweet Tooth” where smurfette’s touch turns everything into candy or there is an episode called “Smurfiplication” where Gargamel uses a multiplying machine on Brainy to get his six Smurfs for making gold. the second one sounds more promsing though, but i dont know honestly. both are from season four episode 35&37. good luck!

P.S did you look through all 9 seasons? heres a website with a brief description of each episode

  3. I am reading the invisible Man, and I must have read the first 12 chapters 3 times over, but I simply can not find the answer to this question from my study guide. A little bit of help would really be appreciated.
    1. What does the “vet” (the veteran doctor who’s at the Golden Day) tell the narrator about the narrator’s condition, what education by Dr. Bledsoe and Mr. Norton has done to him? B. Later, on the bus North, what advice does the vet give him?

  4. You read way too far. This part takes place in chapter 3.

The vet doctor gives interesting insights into the reality which the narrator will refuse, in its totality, until the end of the novel. Another episode of storytelling takes place and again reflects upon later events. Mention of the great white father will come up later with Brother Jack. Moreover, the Vet speaks of his struggle against and for life, being a doctor, but is punished for saving it and realizes that his contribution was worthless. He predicts rightly that the narrator will later feel similarly, repressing his emotions like a mechanical man. In response, Norton calls him insane.

Try using grade saver. They give fairly good insight into most college readings.

  5. The reason I am asking:
I have a family member with a degenerative eye disease who will most likely go totally blind at some point. When the time comes, he has expressed interest in using a guide dog. I currently own a couple of American Bulldogs and a Cane Corso. He loves my dogs and would rather have an American Bulldog, Pit bull or Cane Corso for a guide dog as he especially loves the bully and mastiff breeds. So far, I have been unable to find any examples for him as most guide dogs appear to be Labs, Golden Retrievers or German Shepards and more rarely mixed-breeds. Just wondering if anyone knows of any programs that would allow more freedom of choice when it comes to choosing a guide dog? I did read somewhere that Helen Keller’s guide dog was supposedly a Pit bull, but I was hoping to find something a little more current. I know this is a tough one. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

  6. I’m so happy he is wanting to use a pit bull as a guide dog. I hope he finds one =)
This lady is a pit bull trainer and might can put you in contact with the right person.

Ah no, that is not me. Sorry
Well I found that on page 156, while they are on the bus together, he tells him to “be his own father”. So that is the advice that he gets from the vet on the bus. Now, since this happens after he tells him after his condition, I would guess that it’s before page 156. But the only place where I saw interaction between the vet and narrator interact was at the golden day, so I am at a loss. What did you get for the one about the post WW1 generation’s spiritual condition? I emailed my T.A with no response.
Starting on page 93, there is an interesting conversation between the vet and narrator, maybe the answer is somewhere in there, what do you think?
For number 8 I found that he was angry and humiliated because R and G abandoned them, they left the Player to perform without an audience, which was embarrassing for him.
I found specifically on page 95 that the education by Bledsoe and Norton has made him believe that “white is right”. He says that he cannot see or hear or smell the truth, so maybe the education has made him ignorant? What do you think? Does that answer the question?
Hmmm, maybe a bit of both?
This question is not very direct….hopefully we can discuss it in class today and the T.A’s will be a bit lenient.

  8. Sounds like you are in the same Lit class as me… I’m having a hard time finding it as well. I over heard someone talking in class on Wednesday that the answer to question 10 was in Ch 3…. Still looking! Good luck and if you find it, post it on here!

ok i can’t figure out how to post something else one here so hopefully you’ll see this… he said something (in reference to question #4) in the beginning of the last class about how it was a difficult time. Unemployment rates were at around 20-25% (today they are only at around 10%) so the economy back then was much worse then it is today.
I’m trying to figure out Rosecrantz and Guildenstern. I got number 7, but now I’m working on 8… once i get done with that I will be able to go back and reread those pages and see what it says. Thank God for Google!!!

Lol, yeah I just found that… now the only question I have left to answer is 10A…. ugh… I’ll let you know what I find

I read that part too… I couldn’t really understand what exactly the study guide was asking at first, but now looking at it that way, plus reading the advice the vet gives him later in the book it all makes sense,
Basically Bledsoe and Norton has given him just enough to think he is important, but in reality he is just another black person to them. Ignorant or naive?

I’m hoping they will, especially since this is our first assignment. But with summer semester, there really isn’t any room to be lenient… We’ll see i guess! Thanks for your help!!

  9. Its been over a year now and its becoming unbearable. He continously scratches his body and bites his skin all over until he peels his skin off and blood starts showing. and he does this all the time everyday. And its becoming worse, and now our little maltess has seem going through the same process. The vets here have not really seem to understand what he has. by the way my golden is 10 yrs old. I would appreciate if someone would guide me on this. thanks

  10. Have you tried fish oil? Or maybe switching their food? Or getting a hypo allergenic organic chemical free shampoo and conditioner? Our youngest has horrible allergies and she has fish oil (from the vet), Special organic hypo allergenic shampoo and conditioner, baths 3 times a week, Advantix once monthly, Solid gold sea meal, she eats wellness core, and when she is super itchy (like the beginning of spring end of fall) a benedryl helps make he less itchy (but makes her cranky because of the drowsiness).
Try getting a homeopathic or holistic vet and see if they can help using natural methods. Or ask your vet if they can refer you to a specialist.

  11. I just got a new dog that I am raising for Guide Dogs For the Blind. I have a little Lapso-Apsoa Pekgineese mix and every time the Black lab puppy comes close or tries to play with him, he growls and snaps at him. He even bit him once. My other dog, however, is a huge golden retriever. He is terriffied. They are all males. my mix and golden are both fixed, but the puppy isn’t yet. He is only 7 weeks old. What do I do?

  12. Never leave them alone without supervision. The angry dog is just jelous of the new dog, sees you giving the new dog more attention and does not understand why the switch in your affections. The new dog is competition, that’s all. It’s unfair to your current dogs to just put them aside and start focusing on a new dog (that’s how THEY see it). So, when all dogs are together, focus on the 2 other dogs as much as possible. When you focus on the new dog, do it away from the other 2, where they can’t see what you are doing… that way the jelousy will subside. Always feed the other 2 dogs first, always give them a petting first when you enter the room, they must feel that they are the leaders (especially the black one) over the new dog. I would not leave them all alone without supervision at this point – they are still establishing who is boss and there could be more bites if the new dog hasn’t learned yet.

Since I was asked I will mention I am 19 years old.
The books I mentioned I like

  14. Have you tried reading the Gallagher Girls series? Its about a young girl who goes to a boarding school for spies. Its really good and I think there are about 5 books out now. The first in the series is called: I’d tell you I love you but then I’d have to kill you.

Another good series is the Percy Jackson series. It’s about boys and girls who are known as Demi-Gods (half mortal half immortal) and have special powers. There are five in the series too. The first one is Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief.
    Hope that helped!

  15. I saw this thing in a shop where there was a spiral bound notepad and it had a Little Golden Book as the notepad cover and it looked really awesome.
They were about $30 though which I thought was a bit too much for something that looked easy to make, but I just don’t know how to make one. Is there a guide I could follow?
Also I don’t just want to stick the book cover over the notebook cover, I actually want to attatch it to the spiral.

    Please help!

    I don’t just want to

  16. I am thinking you get this from a craft store (Michaels, Hobby Lobby) or even a home improvement store or photography store. They sell a spray adhesive which would definitely work for your idea. You spray the back of the book cover, let it sit for a few seconds and then press it onto your notebook cover. I think that would work perfectly!

  17. ok im sooooooooooooo exicided because i found out that im getting my guide dog puppy in 2 weeks!!!! its a little boy named carlton (i didnt get to name him) :D and hes a golden retriever lab mix and he will be yellow i was just wanting to no your guide dog experience! thanks

  18. Congratulations on becoming a puppy raiser for guide dogs. My sis and I (mostly my sis) do puppy raising as well. We are on our 3rd dog now and it’s so much fun but a lot of responsibility as well.

They are so gorgeous when they are puppies. Make sure that you start toilet training immediately and obedience training soon after. The people from Guide Dogs would have told you to use a command word with the puppy when going to the toilet. We use “quick, quick”. The earlier they learn this the better off you will be. You will have many sleepless nights I have to tell you so be prepared for that and have an area where the puppy can go to the toilet in the house until he is toilet trained. We made sure we put newspaper down on the floor because it’s very easy to wrap up and put in the bin.

I can also tell you that the best thing we bought was a play pen. We have one of the hexagonal metal ones with a door in it. We put a tarpaulin underneath it, then newspaper down and put the pups bed in there along with a water dish and some toys. Whenever you need a break or can’t watch the pup then put it in the play pen. Ignore the behaviour when it starts howling in the play pen. Oh and getting some baby gates is also really helpful. That way you can zone off areas of your house that may be off limits. They were a godsend to us.

Guide Dog pups cannot be left alone for longer than 3 hours at a time so please remember that. If you do have to go out, make sure the pup is somewhere secure and we find it helpful to leave either the tv or the radio on to keep the pup company. Make sure the pup has some safe toys (nothing that can be chewed and swallowed) and access to water. You may want to buy a dish that the pup can’t tip over.

Every pup we have had will chew everything in sight so put away stuff that you don’t want wrecked and make sure that the pup cannot get to any electrical leads in your home. If you have to leave them exposed then at the very least wipe some of the Vicks vaporub on them. Dogs hate the smell and taste of that stuff. They will chew wood, stones, shoes, carpet…..anything really so be prepared. I can tell you that the more you wear the dog out during the day, the less destructive they will be.

Your guide dog supervisor will let you know when you can start walking the dog and everything else. Please follow what they say and don’t jump the gun on doing anything without their okay. Down the track you will be involved with doing lots of things and going on many outings with your dog as well as having your supervisor coming to visit you and the dog for assessments.

Be careful to only let the dog have good experiences. Anything negative can affect them forever so no loud noises or other things that might scare a young pup. When you do eventually experience a thunderstorm or fireworks then make sure you are calm around your dog and it will get through these things just fine. Normally they are pretty good. When we have fireworks in my area I sit outside with my jack russell and the guide dog labrador and we watch them together. The other 2 dogs in our house go and hide. If you make it a positive experience then they won’t be bothered by it later on.

I wish you the best of luck. You will love it and you will get to meet lots of new people too who also have guide dog puppies.

If you ever need more advice, jump on YA and don’t be afraid to ask but remember that your supervisor is always the first person to contact if something should go wrong or you aren’t sure about something.

One more thing, take lots and lots of photos of your guide dog. We did and we are so glad. They have all been special. The first one we had did not pass and we ended buying her so she is a permanent part of our family now. The last one we had did pass earlier this year and we were so proud. Guide Dogs sent us 2 lovely photos of her in harness which we will treasure. The dog we currently have goes back to Guide Dogs in November this year. The hardest part is the day you have to say goodbye. Honestly you do get attached to them but you can choose to get another puppy after the first one has gone back and start all over again but that will depend on how good your experience was with the first one and how much damage they have done to your house, lol.

  19. My natural hair colour is a mid golden brown, although it’s been dyed a variety of colours over the past five years. My most recent was a bright red, permanent using Schwarzkopf Live XXL for dark hair. I have recently used two brown dyes (mid ash) to try and get back to my natural colour. There is still quite a lot of red in it and it’s getting darker.
I tried a strand test using elimin8 and it barely touched the red. My hairdresser quoted me £50 to take me back using a bleach bath, two colours and a toner. I’m no hairdresser but I’m fairly experienced with colour, I’m hoping someone has some more suggestions for me or will guide me through the bleach process as I’m a little nervous.
Money is an issue and I don’t want to damage my hair, but I am open to any suggestions.
    Thank you for your time

  20. you may have to strip your hair and start over loreal makes a hair color remover that is fairly gentle then choose a color that is a shade darker than what you want your color to be make sure it is an ash tone cause not all of that red will come out, and wait till the last 10 minutes to apply it to the ends so they don’t turn out darker than your roots. but please don’t bleach it you will ruin your hair!
